The 2009 SangSom 6-Red Snooker International
The ABSF is happy to announce that the Winner and Runner-up of the 2009 African Snooker Championship held in Johannesburg, South Africa will represent Africa in the 2009 SangSom 6-Red Snooker International. The two selected African players will be offered complimentary accommodation (sharing basis) with breakfast at the official hotel for the duration of the tournament plus two days.
Tournament will start on 7th July till 12th July 2009 at the Montien Riverside Hotel Bangkok, Thailand
Total players: 48 (all players to be provided with twin sharing accommodation with breakfast at the hotel except the Main Tour players, who will be provided with single room accommodations)
Sixteen to twenty (16-20) professional players from the World Snooker Main Tour; four (4) players from Europe; two (2) players from Oceania; two (2) players from Africa; eight (8) from the host country; the remaining players to be selectively invited from Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia; Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines; Qatar, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.
Competition Days: 6 (six) days
First round: Round-robin, all matches best-of-seven frames 8 groups of 6 players each 120 matches 8 tables x 5 sessions/day = 40 matches/per day Session times: 10 am; 12.30 pm; 3 pm; 5.30 pm and 8 pm Total = 3 days (one 8 pm match live on trueVisions cable TV daily) NOTE: Top four players from each group qualify for the knockout stages.
Last 32 round On Day 4 - Knockout, all matches best-of-11 frames 16 matches 8 tables x 2 sessions at 10 am and 2 pm
Last 16 round: On Day 4 - Knockout, all matches best-of-11 frames 8 matches 8 tables x 1 session at 8 pm (one match live on trueVisions cable TV)
Quarter-finals On Day 5 - All matches best-of-13 frames 4 matches 4 tables x 1 session at 10 am
Semifinals On Day 5 - Both matches best-of-13 frames 2 matches 1 table x 2 sessions at 6 pm and 10 pm (both live on trueVisions cable TV; the second semifinal live on terrestrial TV as well)
Final On Day 6 - Best-of-15 frames At 3 pm (live on terrestrial TV and trueVisions cable TV)
Prize monies: 3,720,000 baht
Champion 1,000,000 baht Runner-up 500,000 baht Semi-finalist 500,000 baht (250,000 baht x 2) Quarterfinalist 600,000 baht (150,000 baht x 4) Last 16 560,000 baht (70,000 baht x 8) Last 32 560,000 baht (35,000 baht x 16)
NOTE: Players ranked among the Top 16 for the 2008-2009 Main Tour to be provided with a subsidy of 50,000 baht each |
